ADHD
Do you feel like your life is stuck on 'hard-mode' and no one seems to understand why "normal" stuff feels almost impossible for you?
I bet you are amazing in a crisis. Emergency? No problem - you got this. Someone moved your keys, the shirt you want to wear is still in the wash, or you didn't get your morning coffee.... disaster. Incoming crash out.
"Where the hell is my favourite spoon. I cannot eat this cereal without the right spoon. All the other spoons in this drawer have shitty handles, the weight isn't right, and it does not feel correct in my mouth. WHERE IS MY ICE CREAM SPOON?"
A neurotypical person is going to look at your ice-cream spoon crash-out with raised eyebrows and probably tell you to just, get over it... because... why would a grown adult be having a meltdown because the spoon doesn't feel right?
But for a neurodivergent person they are reading this nodding their head, completely agreeing that this is crash-out worthy and already deep into a chat GPT rabbit hole trying to research the perfect spoon for ice cream.
You're in the right place. I see you... and, I live in your world too. You aren't crazy, you're just wired to think in a way that the majority of people don't. The world wasn't built for neurodivergent people... but the funny thing is... some of the most influential people of all time - people who you could say have built the world we live in ARE neurodivergent... hello Elon Musk, Richard Branson, Napoleon Bonaparte, Picasso, Winston Churchill...
Living with ADHD is about far more than being easily distracted or forgetful. It can affect every aspect of life—from work, relationships and parenting to self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and everyday responsibilities. Many people with ADHD spend years wondering why tasks that seem effortless for others feel so difficult, despite trying incredibly hard.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects the brain's executive functioning—the skills responsible for planning, organisation, focus, emotional regulation, time management and impulse control. It is not a reflection of intelligence, motivation or character. In fact, many people with ADHD are highly creative, insightful and capable, yet continually struggle to translate their potential into consistent action.
Life with ADHD is harder than 'typical'. It just is... because the world operates on being on time, not standing out too much and understanding and being understood by others... but harder doesn't necessarily mean worse.
Missed deadlines, unfinished projects, forgotten commitments, emotional overwhelm and constant self-criticism can lead to feelings of frustration, anxiety, shame and the belief that you are somehow "not enough". Many adults with ADHD have spent years masking their struggles or blaming themselves for difficulties they never fully understood.
Together, we explore the patterns that have developed over time, identify the obstacles that continue to hold you back, and help you develop practical strategies that work with your brain rather than against it.
While ADHD presents real challenges, it does not define who you are or determine what you can achieve... in fact, the person who wrote this section has ADHD.
Learning to manage ADHD involves understanding your strengths, recognising your vulnerabilities, and taking personal responsibility for developing systems, habits and operating strategies that support lasting change. The goal is not perfection—because perfect is boring (and impossible) anyways. The goal is leaning in to who you are, how you view the world, and training new skills you can re-wire into that super-computer brain of yours to live a satisfying and fulfilling life.
Whether you have recently been diagnosed, have lived with ADHD for many years, or suspect it may be contributing to your daily challenges, you do not have to keep trying to force-fit yourself into a box that was never built for you. Lets build a new box, or a circle, or a tetrahedron... or a pool... or a swingset... or.....
...how about we just figure out some good ways to make your experience of life a little less difficult.... and then you can go back to unravelling the mysteries of the universe. Sound good? Awesome. See you soon.
